It's GDC week in San Francisco, that's the Game Developers Conference, which kicked off today and runs through Friday March 21st at Moscone Center. Let's get right to the Tech Feed! Techcrunch is reporting that Amazon's upcoming is a game console/set top box that will rival the Chromecast and be in dongle form, according to anonymous sources. Rumors also have it supporting streaming full PC game titles which would put it in the same category as the Xbox and PlayStation, which would put Amazon into more direct competition with Steam, and big game console makers. Amazon would also likely promote its streaming Amazon Instant Video and Amazon MP3 offerings through the device. / Have any issues with Google this morning? Then you and I have something in common. Google’s instant-messaging tool Hangouts suffered an outage, while its spreadsheet app Sheets and another instant-messaging service, Google Talk, also experienced disruptions, according to the company’s status dashboard. Hangouts powers text messaging on many Android devices, and outages were first reported around 9 am Pacific time. This is Google’s first outage since Gmail had some hiccups on February 25th. As of 11:15 a.m. PT, Google had posted messages saying Hangouts, Talk and Sheets service had been restored for “some users” and the company expects the problems to be fixed for everyone “in the near future.” / Fast Company's Austin Carr is reporting he's seen AirBNB's lofty roadmap for 2014 which includes transportation services, and extras like fresh bedding for Airbnb hosts. The company has also begun a New York City test of "alternative ways to help with host and guests key exchange, plus hosts will have new options classify their listings, such as "I'm a business-ready listing." That could make it easier for Airbnb to target corporate travelers, who represent roughly 40% of the market. Airbnb also announced in February that all hosts must install smoke detectors by year's end. / Dorian Satoshi Nakamoto, the man Newsweek claimed was the creator of bitcoin, has hired a law firm and issued a statement through his lawyer last night in an attempt to clear his name. In the statement, Nakamoto says: "I did not create, invent or otherwise work on Bitcoin. I unconditionally deny the Newsweek report." Nakamoto claims he heard the term bitcoin from his son back in February after he had been contacted by the reporter working on the Newsweek story." he also says: "I have no knowledge of nor have I ever worked on cryptography, peer to peer systems, or alternative currencies." / Coming up.. have you ever wondered what would happen if you gave Superman a GoPro.. we have the video!
