Mac Pick: Acorn 5
Rene Ritchie's pick of the week on MacBreak Weekly 469 is Acorn 5 for Mac. This is a photo editing app that can handle most of the things Photoshop can, yet it costs much less. The latest version has tons of improvements, including better cropping, soft brushes, snapping, a Photoshop Brush import, new filters and blend modes, and much more. It's also much faster than previous Acorn versions.
Acorn uses layers with over 25 different non-destructive blending mode options. There's endless combinations of layer styles and non-destructive filters. It has all of the tools you'll need including eraser tools and customizable clone, blur, and smudge brushes. You can also create vectors, and a powerful shape processor allows for easy moving, tweaking, and adjusting of shapes.
